I can’t remember if I mentioned it or not, but me and my husband are in the process of converting our VW Caddy van into a day van. It’s no way near finished but we have at least started the conversion, and so this weekend we decided to have our first two day van adventures.
This weekend was perfect as the weather finally warmed up a little and blessed us with some sunshine and a spring like feeling in the air. That’s enough to put a smile on anyone’s face, right?
So where did we go? We stayed local and visited Walton-on-the-Naze on Saturday, I am absolutely in love with this place but I will get more into that in a separate post because there’s so much I want to tell you about it. However, Saturday was just perfect, the sun was shining, the cold bite was gone from the air and we enjoyed a nice walk around the Naze nature reserve whilst listening to the waves crash against the red cliffs. And to finish off a perfect afternoon, we treated ourselves to a cup of tea to warm us up and some biscuits (for dipping of course – please tell me you’re a dipper too).
Now I must rewind to Valentine’s day when I was spoilt rotten by my husband who unexpectedly treated me to an amazing vintage style bicycle that I have dreamed about owning for ages. …Skipping forward again to Sunday, I was finally able to go for my first little ride on it. (I need a name for her, if you have any suggestions, I’d love to read them).
We drove to Brightlingsea with the bikes in the back of the van and rode from Brightlingsea along the seafront heading towards Wivenhoe. It was so enjoyable. I love this route as we had the sea on one side with the sound of waves crashing and we could see boats gently sailing by whilst on the other side there were fields as far as you could see. Absolute heaven.
Do you own a day van or camper van? What were your first day van adventures? I love some ideas to add to the ideas pot!
